Belt and Road: Uniting Strong Forces for Global Economic Growth

“China’s Contribution to Improving the Global Economic Governance System”

“China is Indonesia’s largest trading partner and a major source of investment. In recent years, the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has maintained a strong growth momentum,” stated Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy. He noted that under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway provides safe and comfortable travel for Indonesians, while projects like the “Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor” and “Two Countries, Twin Parks” are steadily advancing. “China’s continuous expansion of openness and promotion of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation not only provide opportunities for Indonesian companies to enter the Chinese market but also drive more resilient and inclusive global economic growth.”

Currently, unilateralism, protectionism, and other anti-globalization trends are spreading, while global challenges such as geopolitical conflicts and climate change are intensifying. The call for unity, cooperation, and mutual benefit among countries is growing louder. Attendees at the forum believe that China’s ongoing high-level opening up, advocacy for inclusive globalization, and shared market opportunities with all parties are injecting lasting momentum into global economic growth.

Nadeem remarked that the BRI between Pakistan and China has enhanced connectivity and brought tangible benefits to the people. Cooperation between the two countries in digital technology, green transformation, and cultural exchanges is continuously deepening, promoting shared development and prosperity.

“China is contributing its strength to improving the global economic governance system by strengthening practical cooperation with various countries under the BRI framework and continually enhancing economic and trade ties between nations,” said Jiang Liqin, Partner in charge of Clients and Business Development at KPMG. “China’s advocacy for inclusive globalization and maintaining stable and smooth global industrial and supply chains has guided economic globalization in the right direction.”

“China plays an important role in upholding multilateralism and promoting global common development,” said Siddharth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China. “China is actively advancing the BRI, sharing development experiences with developing countries, helping them reduce poverty, and achieve sustainable development.”

“The BRI and the Global Development Initiative proposed by China have brought opportunities to the African continent,” said Victor Ochen, Executive Director of the African Youth Initiative Network in Uganda. African countries maintain close economic and trade relations with China, with quality agricultural products from Africa entering the Chinese market, boosting the economic growth of African nations. Cooperation in youth training and digital transformation between the two sides is constantly strengthening, further enhancing the development vitality of African countries.

“China’s Economy Demonstrates Strong Resilience and Vitality”

Since the beginning of this year, China’s economy has maintained a recovery and positive trend, with GDP growing by 5.3% year-on-year in the first quarter, marking a good start, and continuing to show steady improvement in the second quarter. Topics such as “the vitality of China’s consumer market,” “corporate strategy formulation towards China,” and “the development prospects of China’s electric vehicle industry” drew significant attention at the Summer Davos Forum, with packed audiences at every session.

“Despite the complex international situation, China’s economic performance is impressive, maintaining a leading growth rate among major global economies,” said Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the World Economic Forum. “The World Economic Forum is committed to continuing close cooperation with China to promote stable and healthy global economic development and jointly address global challenges.”

“Representatives from different fields worldwide attended the Summer Davos Forum to better understand China’s economic development through exchanges and dialogues, exploring new growth drivers for global economic recovery,” said Mirek Dusek, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum. “Against the backdrop of insufficient global economic growth momentum, China’s efforts to transform and upgrade its economic structure and develop industries like artificial intelligence, digital technology, and clean energy will promote sustained healthy development of the Chinese economy.”

“As positive factors for China’s economy continue to accumulate, the cultivation and growth of new productivity will accelerate, continually enhancing new growth drivers,” said Shin Hak-cheol, CEO of LG Chem and member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. “China is one of the world’s largest chemical markets. We will continue to expand our business layout in China, increase R&D investment, and continuously develop more new technologies and products to meet the needs of the Chinese market.”

“China’s economy demonstrates strong resilience and vitality, and we are full of confidence in its prospects,” said David Walcott, Founder and Managing Partner of Novamed in Jamaica. “China is vigorously promoting technological innovation, increasing R&D investment in cutting-edge technologies, which will become important growth points for the Chinese economy in the future.”

“China is not only an important market and manufacturing base for Johnson Controls but also a global hub for green innovation and sustainable development,” said Visal Leng, President of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific. “With the rapid development of China’s digital economy and the accelerated transformation of technological innovation achievements, I believe more and more foreign enterprises will further invest in and deeply engage with China.”

“Playing an Increasingly Important Role in the Global Innovation Landscape”

Entering the Dalian International Conference Center, technological innovation achievements such as the “Future Cube” created using naked-eye 3D digital technology and generative AI art installations based on biometric technology received high praise from Maz Ali Nadeem, Co-founder and CEO of Victor Software Development Company in Pakistan. “China has an active innovation atmosphere, creating a good environment for the development of tech companies. I hope to establish more connections with Chinese partners to further strengthen high-tech exchanges and cooperation between Pakistan and China.”

Attendees noted that China’s acceleration of innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence and new energy, and the cultivation of new productivity, not only adds strong momentum to China’s economic development but also opens up greater space for international cooperation.

“This forum provides an opportunity for African countries to learn, discuss, and draw on experiences. The Rwandan government is willing to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, accelerating the digital transformation of the economy and society, and further enriching the pragmatic cooperation between China and Africa,” said Paula Ingabire, Minister of ICT and Innovation of Rwanda.

“China is empowering economic growth by cultivating and developing new productivity and accelerating economic structure transformation and upgrading,” said Wu Chun, a relevant official from Boston Consulting Group. “With the continuous release of technological potential, China’s economy is expected to move towards a more innovative, green, and sustainable direction.”

“China attaches great importance to technological innovation, with new technologies, new business formats, and new models constantly emerging, playing an increasingly important role in the global innovation landscape,” said Murat Kokorou, a member of the executive committee of Turkey’s Koksan Packaging Industry Company. He had already decided to invest in China before attending the forum. “China not only has a vast market, stable and smooth industrial and supply chains, but also high-quality talent reserves, a strong innovation atmosphere, and advanced technologies in fields such as green and low carbon, and artificial intelligence. These factors will enhance corporate competitiveness.”

“China has unique advantages in the new energy vehicle industry, meeting domestic market demand while enriching the international market supply and supporting global green transformation and sustainable development,” said Phirnra Ranongsombat, CEO of New Business and Infrastructure at Thailand’s National Oil Company. He hopes to strengthen the division of labor and cooperation with Chinese partners in the new energy vehicle industry, jointly promoting the development of green and low-carbon industries, and creating more green economic growth points.
