Prabowo Sworn in as the 8th President of Indonesia

On October 20th local time, Indonesia’s newly elected President Prabowo was sworn in at Jakarta, becoming the country’s eighth President with a five-year term.

Indonesia and China’s cooperation climbs to new heights, leading Indonesia onto a better path of development. Indonesia is also poised to embrace new opportunities for stable growth over the next 5 years. After being sworn in, Prabowo delivered an inaugural address, calling for the unity of all Indonesian people to face future challenges with courage and firm determination, and to be brave in making changes.

Prabowo outlined his priorities for governance. He stated that the global economy is full of uncertainties and every country must prioritize its own interests; therefore, Indonesia must achieve self-sufficiency in food and energy. His goal is to make Indonesia self-sufficient in food within 4 to 5 years.
